What others say about us

Testimonials

"I have had the pleasure of working with G-map in my role as Assistant Chief Officer for the National Probation Service. ... I have been particularly impressed by the knowledge, understanding and professionalism of G-map staff. As the chair of the MAPPA Level 3 meetings, I found G-map’s contributions to be insightful and helpful, striking a perfect balance between genuine care for the service user and understanding of the risks presented and the need for these to be managed."

"Our successful and longstanding partnership with G-map is a fundamental cornerstone in our ongoing achievements within the sector. Their support, interventions and direct work with both staff and children is invaluable. The children in our care have benefited immensely and this is reflected in the progress they make and the outcomes they achieve, both during their time with us and in their adult lives. I cannot speak highly enough of G-map from the practitioners to mangers to admin. Their willingness to adapt, work collaboratively and our open and honest relationship along with our aligned child focused approach has seen our specialist therapeutic residential service go from strength to strength. G-map have been absolutely pivotal in achieving our consistently Outstanding results!"

"My child was very disconnected from the world, lacking confidence, withdrawn. When G-map was brought into a conversation I was against it and didn’t think it would be helpful as my daughter would not talk to strangers or open up. The G-map team worked miracles they brought my daughter out of her shell in the 2 years they worked with her. Step by step she blossomed into having self care, confidence, strength, achievements, a future of possibilities and they brought happiness back. The G-map team changed my child’s life into a positive life with goals to a better person. I highly recommend the team. So warm and friendly and I loved working with them, they helped me also as a parent. Thank you G-map."

"One young person said: “I’ve done things in the past that I couldn’t talk about ... because it hurt too much ... when I saw how my behaviour fitted with the Good Lives Model I felt relieved that it was understandable... and it was easier to talk about it to others who understood."

"G-map have done a wonderful job in helping keep our family together. Without their intervention we may have lost our son altogether. They have helped us to understand his behaviour and how to manage it. They do a great job of including the parents in the work that they do with the young people."

"At the time of our referral to G-map, our family had been completely shattered and was in crisis. It turned out that our weekly visits to G-map were a life-line for both me my son.

The staff were friendly and made us feel at ease. I feel they took the time to get to know us and our situation, and were extremely knowledgeable and non-judgmental. During the sessions, my son felt relaxed and was given the space to be able to talk openly and honestly. With the staff's help, my son was able to process and better understand what had happened that had led him to being referred to G-map. It was like a huge weight was lifted off his shoulders. As well as counselling and supporting his emotional needs, the education around grooming and on-line safety was invaluable, and I feel confident that my son is now far less vulnerable to being exploited.

I really feel that the sessions had a positive effect on my son's self esteem and he is now able to put what happened behind him and get on with his life, the better for it. I strongly feel that all young people would benefit from attending a program like G-map. I'd like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of the staff. "

"My allocated child has been accessing G-map therapy for nearly two years. Over this period, I have watched his therapist painstakingly get to know and understand my looked after child who was initially extremely resistant to any form of talking therapy. Over this time, he has built up so much trust and truly feels that he has a safe space each week to express himself in whichever way he feels comfortable. With the expertise, empathy, and commitment to support children, my looked after child has now reached a point with G-map whereby he has been able to feel safe enough to explore his past and understand how to be reflective, understand his thoughts and feelings and eventually, disclose which was a profound moment in his journey.

I know he is safe hands with a genuine level of care to support him to heal in his childhood and prepare for adulthood.

It has been a truly wonderful experience to watch a very confused, angry, and unsettled child become a calm, measured and thoughtful young man who is finally making sense of his life so far and taking steps to feel justified and put himself first."

"In my view G-map’s grasp of the Good Lives Model (GLM) is profound and they have worked with the model from the inside out, making sensible practice adjustments but preserving its core ideas and ethical heart. In the G-map staff's hands the GLM has been transformed into a flexible and clinically sophisticated practice framework capable of integrating cutting-edge and effective techniques within a strength-based framework. ... this book is likely to prove to be a landmark publication in the field of sexual offending and is sure to attract clinicians and researchers alike."

"Having worked with young people who have attended G-map over a seven-year period, I have observed how a number of our young people feel shame and embarrassment in regards to their sexualised behaviours and find it difficult to talk about their experiences and past trauma. G-map assists them to address their sexualised behaviours, in a calm, considered and patient approach using the Good Lives Model. G-map have enabled our young people to improve their wellbeing, form positive relationships, grow their confidence and become more independent. I personally have gained from my experience of working with G-map and feel it has enhanced my practice, which in turn assists the young people I support."
